Fairway Hills Park Rain Garden Project

A rain garden is being built in Fairway Hills Park! The goal of this project is to slow and soak in stormwater close to where it lands and to create wildlife habitat.

• Turf grass will be removed
• Grading work will begin
• Compost, mulch and plants will be added
• All work will finish by December of 2026
• Ongoing maintenance work will continue into the future.

Update September 28th: The grass is being treated with herbicide so it will look brown. Grading will begin in a few weeks and most plants will go in this fall.
There will be a sign on site describing the project, as well as the herbicide signs.

Construction is funded through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Federation with support from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, Kresge Foundation, the Erb Family Foundation and Ypsilanti Township.
