Debbie Swanson, Ypsilanti Township Clerk
Elected as a Trustee in 2019
Elected as Clerk in 2024
Debbie Swanson is serving her first term as the elected Ypsilanti Township Clerk. Prior to serving as clerk, she served 4 years as a Ypsilanti Township Trustee. As a trustee, she introduced the Ypsilanti Township Board Ethics Policy and was a member of the Elections Committee and the Liquor Committee. She is the alternate representative for the board on the Huron River Watershed Council. Previously, Debbie served for 20 years as an elected Ypsilanti Township Park Commissioner. She served as vice chair and secretary for the Park Commission.
She is a graduate of both Michigan State University (Undergraduate Degree in Education) and Eastern Michigan University (Masters Degree in K-12 Curriculum and Instruction). Debbie has 40 years of combined teaching experience in Willow Run Community Schools and Ypsilanti Community Schools dedicated to the education of youth in our community. She is the owner of a small business. She is a proud lifelong resident of Ypsilanti Township. Debbie can be found volunteering and participating in many community events with her husband Mark. They love spending time in our community parks and places for recreation.
