Supervisor's Office

Ypsilanti Township is your community and serving you, our residents, is our first priority. The Supervisor's Office primary responsibility, with the approval of the Township Board, is to prepare and oversee the Township budget. Our office also coordinates the Township’s Neighborhood Watch groups. We encourage everyone to be involved with our community by attending a board meeting and engaging with our board members or by connecting with your neighborhood watch groups. Our philosophy is “if you see something, say something, and it’s up to us to try to do something.”

Brenda Stumbo, Ypsilanti Township Supervisor

Currently serving as Supervisor since 2008
Has served as Clerk from 1992 to 2008
Has served as Trustee from 1988 to 1992

Brenda Stumbo was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and at the age of five, she moved to Ypsilanti Township. After graduating from Lincoln Consolidated Schools, she completed her bachelor’s degree at Central Michigan University majoring in Parks and Recreation.

In her 34th year of being an elected public servant, Brenda’s commitment to the residents of Ypsilanti Township is unwavering. Next to being a mother, her greatest honor is to be able to serve the public and she strives to always “Place Residents First,” a philosophy she believes in.

Our main priorities in Ypsilanti Township are public safety, park preservation, neighborhood stabilization, and economic development. Our Township Board, employees, and contracted professional services prioritizes feedback from our residents and partnerships with state and local agencies to achieve “A Community of Opportunity.”

In addition to being Township Supervisor, she has served on Ypsilanti Community Authority Board, Ann Arbor Spark, Destination Ann Arbor, Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Local Development Finance Authority Committee and Washtenaw Urban Executive Committee. Brenda also volunteers for many community events and attends Neighborhood Watch meetings regularly.

Brenda’s faith, family, and community are her guiding principles when serving our Township residents, which she believes to be an honor and a privilege.
