Mobile Food Service Unit (MFSU) Permit process
To operate as a Mobile Food Service Unit (MFSU) in Ypsilanti Township (and other participating communities) you must have a current Washtenaw County Mobile Food Truck Consortium Inspection and a valid State of Michigan Health Department License. Once you have your inspections follow the steps below:

  1. Register with IROL
  2. Email [email protected] to schedule food truck inspection with the Township Fire Marshal.
  3. Your completed form will be reviewed by the Ypsilanti Township Fire Marshals division.
  4. Once inspection is approved by the Township Fire Marshal, submit a Zoning Permit Application with the following documents:
    • A completed application
    • Inspection approval from the Fire Marshal
    • Washtenaw County Health Department Approval
    • Written Permission from the property owner to operate food truck on premises
    • Information on where the food truck is to be located on the property.
  5. The Ypsilanti Township Planning & Zoning Department will review all provided documentation and issue the permit if provided information meets Township standards.
If you plan to operate within an Ypsilanti Township Park, you are also required to obtain a Special Event Permit Application.
