Zoning Board of Appeals

Please take this notice that a joint training session has been scheduled by the Charter Township of Ypsilanti for the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals to be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at approximately 6:00pm - 9:00pm in the Civic Center Board Room (7200 S. Huron River Drive). No items of business will be discussed at this training session.

The Ypsilanti Township Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) consists of 5 Ypsilanti Township residents, who are appointed by the Township Board of Trustees. The Zoning Board of Appeals is a quasi-judicial body with the authority to hear and determine appeals of administrative decisions and variance applications and make interpretations of Zoning Ordinance provisions.

Meeting Schedule
In 2026, the Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on the first Wednesday of every month. Meetings are not held on holidays. The deadline for application submission is approximately 28 days prior to the scheduled meeting.

Special meetings may be held at the request of the applicant. If a special meeting is called, the applicant is required to pay a fee of $1,100.
