Parks

All gated parks have been closed for the winter season with the exception of Ford Lake Park and Ford Heritage Park which are open from dawn until dusk.

The Ypsilanti Township Parks System consists of thirty parks and recreation facilities totaling over 900 acres. The parks range in size from 0.3 acres to 190 acres and provide wonderful areas for informal play, organized programs, bird watching, or to simply enjoy nature. Our larger community parks provide enhanced facilities including picnic shelters, boardwalks, paved and nature trails, interpretive signage, access to canoeing, kayaking and boating, fishing, athletic fields/courts and so much more. Many of our neighborhood parks have recently been renovated and include new park and play equipment.

The Ford Lake Loop Trail is available for review on the USA Track & Field website. The trail is a 9.49 mile paved path looping around Ford Lake. This trail is predominately off road, only 1 mile is a bike/walk lane in 2 different locations. The path goes through or past South Hydro Park, North Hydro Park, Lakeview Park, Loonfeather Point Park, North Bay Park, Ford Heritage Park and Lakeside Park.

To better serve you, some of our community parks are staffed by park attendants during the park season (May - September). We also have Park Rangers on duty during the park season that patrol all of the parks within the Township. If you need assistance, our park staff is there to serve you! Park hours are dawn to dusk.
