Planning Commission Vacancy

The Charter Township of Ypsilanti has a vacancy for a Planning Commission member.

The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. The work sessions begin at 6:00pm, and the meetings begin at 6:30pm. The Planning Commission can make recommendations to a zoning plan and districts per the Township’s ordinance, approve special land uses, planned unit developments, and site plans. The appointees will receive a $75 stipend per meeting.

To qualify for the Planning Commission, candidates must:
  • be a registered voter
  • have resided in the Charter Township of Ypsilanti for at least 30 days
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • be a U.S. citizen
Those interested must send a letter of interest and resume to the Charter Township of Ypsilanti Clerk’s Office via email at [email protected] or deliver to the Clerk’s Office at the Civic Center (7200 S. Huron River Dr, Ypsilanti, MI 48197). Submissions will be accepted until 4:30pm on Monday, May 11, 2026 (please note that Civic Center hours are Monday - Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm).

The Board will consider these appointments at the Tuesday, May 19, 2026 Board of Trustees Meeting at 6:00pm.
