DTE Gas Main Replacement: Tuttle Hill Rd, Martz Rd, Willis Rd & Bunton Rd
UPDATE: June 24thImpacted residents can expect a letter in July providing project updates.
DTE has obtained work permits from Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) to work 6 days a week to reduce the duration of the project.
Work is expected to be complete September 2026. DTE will conduct some testing shortly after.
WEMU: DTE replacing gas main around Tuttle Hill-Martz Road area in Ypsilanti Township
To keep your natural gas service safe and reliable, DTE will be upgrading equipment in your area soon. Affected residents were sent notification letters on February 18, 2026 and door hangers will be placed as the project is underway.
Here is an overview of the planned work and what you can expect:
- Gas infrastructure construction will begin on Monday, March 9, 2026, and will last about eighteen weeks for the entire area. The project will be in the immediate area for approximately six weeks during this period.
- Upgrades will include replacement of the gas main (pipes) that run along Tuttle Hill Rd. and Martz Rd.
- New pipes – made from more efficient and durable materials – will be installed underground in the easement (the city-owned property between the street and homes).
- DTE’s Contractor (Miller Pipeline) will use heavy equipment to perform the construction but will attempt to minimize noise and disruption to you and your property.
- After work is completed, DTE will repair affected driveways, sidewalks and grass to their original condition.
