Offices Closed for the Holidays Dec 24th - Jan 2nd

Ypsilanti Township Civic Center Offices will be closed Wednesday, December 24th - Friday, January 2nd in observance of the Christmas and New Year Holidays. Regular hours resume Monday, January 5, 2026.

Please note that beginning January 5th, office hours are being extended to be open during the lunch hour. The Civic Center will be open from 8:30am - 4:30pm.

14B-Court-Entrance14B District Court will be closed Wednesday, December 24th - Friday, December 26th for Christmas and Wednesday, December 31st - Friday, January 2nd for the New Year. Regular hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.

The main entrance to the 14B District Court is now monitored by security equipment and staffed by security personnel to ensure the safety and security of the Court and all individuals in attendance. Litigants and visitors should plan to arrive early to allow sufficient time for security screening prior to court proceedings.

Please take notice that the renovated Court facility is in the same location however, the entryway was moved further south than before. If you are facing the building from the main parking lot, 14B Court is located to your right through the doors on the brick wall side.

The Community Center will be closed Wednesday, December 24th - Saturday, January 3rd. Regular hours resume Monday, January 5, 2026 from 8:00am - 8:00pm.

Curbside Services
No Collection on Christmas Day - Thursday, December 25th: Thursday & Friday routes on a one-day delay.
No Collection on New Year's Day - Thursday, January 1st: Thursday & Friday routes on a one-day delay.

BULK ITEMS
Each residence may set out one (properly prepared) item per week at no charge. The initial trash trucks will report your bulk item to the route manager, and a separate truck will come back to pick up your bulk item.

CHRISTMAS TREES
Dispose with Waste Management
- The months of December-March, Christmas trees will be collected by the WM bulk truck in addition to your one-weekly bulk item. A separate truck and crew will pick-up your bulk item. Christmas trees that are taller than 6’ must be cut in half and placed next to your WM trash cart no later than 6:00am on your collection day.

Dispose at the Compost Site - In December and March, Christmas trees are accepted at the Compost Site for chipping (free of charge for Ypsilanti Township residents; proof of single-family home residency is required with government issued driver's license or State ID). Must have all decorations removed: Lights, tinsel, garland, ornaments and tree stand.

The Compost Site is CLOSED in January & February.

YARD WASTE
Yard Waste Collection has ended for the season and will begin again the week of April 6th. Residents of residential dwellings in Ypsilanti Township may dispose of yard waste, brush, and branches (free of charge within size limit of less than 1' in diameter; proof of residency required - ID/driver's license) at the Compost Site.

The Compost Site (2600 E Clark Rd) began winter hours on Saturday, November 29th.

Taxes
Winter Property Taxes are due by February 14th. Since the 2025 Winter Tax due date falls on the weekend, we are accepting payments without penalty through the next business day, Tuesday, February 17, 2026. (Township Offices will be closed Monday, February 16th for President's Day).

Fireworks
For New Year’s Eve, fireworks are permitted Wednesday, December 31st from 11:00am - 1:00am on Thursday, January 1st.

Firework violations can be reported to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office by calling 734.994.2911 for non-emergency police service. Please include details about the location of the source of the fireworks violation to ensure the violator is more likely to be found. The Township legally cannot reduce days or hours regulated by the State. The Township can allow additional days, but do not.
