How to Appeal Your Assessment
Function & Objective
The Board of Review will meet for the purpose of hearing and considering assessment appeals. They will review all the available information pertaining to your property and the sales of properties in the market area that have not been foreclosed on or that were not sold under duress. The hearing is an independent review of the 2025 Assessed and Taxable Values. The Board of Review members are not employees of the Township. They consist of an independent board of resident taxpayers of the Township and are charged with the duty of hearing taxpayer appeals and making decisions on the appeals.

To best utilize your appeal time, it is recommended that you provide any information pertaining to your home, sales information that the Board of Review may not have available to them and why you think the value is different than what the current assessment indicates.

The Board of Review will then proceed on each case before them and will make a decision and notify you in writing when they have concluded their hearing.

What to Bring

Patience
The Board of Review and the Assessing Staff are working hard to see that you have your opportunity to appeal your assessment. Please be patient. Also, please be considerate to the other Township residents. We ask that you arrive early and limit your appeal to the 10 minutes. This will assure that other residents will have time for their appeal. Again, you may submit supplemental information that the board will review.
